Comprehensive training on intensive vaccinology

The Centre for Vaccine Sciences (CVS) organised and hosted the first ever training on intensive vaccinology in Bangladesh. Eighteen professionals from different fields of biomedical sciences took part in the ten-day comprehensive course from 25 May to 5 June at icddr,b. The Clinical Trial and Immunomonitoring training aimed to share several epidemiological and clinical aspects of enteric infections-burden and risk factors,
physiopathology and prevention and control. The training was funded by the European Union project Stopenterics. Participants from India, Italy, Sweden, France, Norway, Thailand, Bolivia and Bangladesh took part in the training that included lectures, clinical and field site visits at Matlab and Mirpur. The training was led by CVS Director Dr Firdausi Qadri and Professor Ann-Mari Svennerholm from the University of Gothenburg with the support from the Technical Training Unit. icddr,b faculty members included Executive Director Professor John D Clemens, Drs Tahmeed Ahmed, K Zaman, Hassan Ashraf, Rubhana Raqib, PK Bardhan, MA Salam, Rashidul Haque, KM Nasirul Islam and Taufiqur Rahman Bhuiyan. External faculty members included Professor NK Ganguly and Dr Norma Binsztein.
